This is particularly true for forgotten or lost traditions that may be preserved. The Elders with the most knowledge may not have the technological knowhow to document all their valuable information. The body of The Floating Fly is an archive of knowledge in its own right, a form of knowledge which needs to be passed onto future generations. There will be no language border or language boundary, together with the great help of other dry fly masters from all over the world we will document and translate the precious thoughts and experiences of seasoned anglers and preserve them for future generations. Christopher Rownes

Rich Strolis has worn many hats in the flyfishing industry; guide, commercial fly tyer and fly designer, fly tying teacher, presenter, advisor and published author.  His patterns have appeared in several national magazines and books, and in 2016 he wrote his first book, Catching Shadows: Tying Flies For The Toughest Trout and Strategies for Fishing them Published by Stackpole Books. Today he continues tying and designing flies with a seasonal average of 20-30,000 tied annually.  When not tying, he spends a great deal of time fishing varied watersheds, exploring, observing and investigating what the bugs and fish tell him.   His sense of adventure has become a secondary passion,  addictively searching out fishing the lesser known or otherwise forgotten fishery as opposed to the most popular looking for solitude and a varied learning approach.  Despite his love of trout, he spends a great deal of time fishing a very wide variety of other species in both fresh and saltwater as he revels in the idea of being a well rounded angler.

This quiet sport still takes us to beautiful places and allows us to connect with nature. Trout hunting with a fly rod challenges us to physically and mentally enter a world where sophisticated prey holds the advantage. To become absorbed into the complexities of this gentle endeavour is the total escape.
